I stumbled upon a video that left me both heartbroken and shocked. The incident happened in Rivers State recently. A young man was narrating how his house got burnt.

He said he was out playing football when someone ran up to him with the news: “Your house is on fire!” But it was still the first half of the match. So he stood there, contemplating whether to abandon the game and rush home, or stay and finish the match

He chose to stay.

By the time he got home, everything he owned had been reduced to ashes, including his football jerseys and boots. All he had left was the game he had just played.

What struck me most was what he did next. He pasted his account number online, not asking for help to rebuild a house or replace major belongings, but simply to get another pair of football boots and jersey.
