The newly created republic of Biafra has acquired a B-26 jet for its air force The American-built B26 fighter-bomber of World War II vintage was flown under a false flight plan from Lisbon to the secessionist capital last week.
The B 26 was piloted by a Frenchman and an East European with a Swiss passport. It carried rockets and heavy machine guns that are now being filled to the plane at the Enugu airport by former Nigerian Air Force armorers who were trained in West Germany before the secession.

The Federal Government has failed in its attempts to purchase fighters for its own air force, which is equipped only with unarmed training aircraft. According to reliable sources, the secessionist Government expects to receive soon, a 40-mile an-hour torpedo boat purchased in Europe. Helicopters flying reconnaissance from Port Harcourt, the East’s main oil terminal, report that only one Nigerian Navy ship patrols the coast.
