Thank you for allowing me to share my story here. I’m using my friend’s account because I really need advice.

I am a 38-year-old woman. When I was young when a man from Tanzania asked to marry me. I said yes without asking much about him. I thought everyone from Tanzania was rich! My family told me to wait because I was young, but I didnt listen.

I started talking to him on the phone, and soon we got ready for the wedding. He came to my home, paid the bride price, and we signed the marriage papers.

I was so happy! After 2 months, I traveled to Tanzania to live with my husband. But when I arrived, I was shocked. He lived in a simple room that was almost empty.

I thought to myself, No problem, we will build our life together. He was working in a cyber cafe, but he never had any money.

All our plans fell through because he could not pay for anything. I worked hard, and we built a small studio on his uncle’s piece of land.

He was so broke, he asked my mother to lend him money 300,000 which he never paid back.

He didnt help my family at all. When my mother had to bury her father, he didnt have money. I had to send money for the funeral, saying it was from him to save him from shame.

We had two children, but he does not know how to take care of them. He rarely helps with anything and doesnt care for me either. I have tried hard to support him.

I suggested sending the kids to my mother to help us save money.

Two years after they left, I told him it was time to see how much we had saved. But he had nothing saved at all! This makes me so añgry because he just keeps getting older.

He will be 50 this July , and theres still nothing to show for it. His father is 80 years old and has no house or land, and his brothers are the same.

I’m scared this might be a bad luck in their family, and they may never get better. I worry about my future and my childrens future.

I have talked to him many times, trying to help, but nothing changes. I dont think he ever loved me. I have felt uncomfortable since the day I stepped into his rented room.

I held on, believing we could achieve great things together, but after seven years of sacrifice, nothing has changed. Now, I have decided to leave him, but my friends say I should stay because we are married.

I need your advice on what to do.

Please help me.
